Complaints from residents who are upset about sculptures of "naked men" in downtown Greenville may cause the Hispanic Alliance to lose a county grant.
An advisory panel had recommended awarding an accommodations-tax grant of $7,500 to the Hispanic Alliance to promote the Wings of the City sculptures that were unveiled April 2 in Falls Park and on the Peace Center campus.
Greenville is the first city east of the Mississippi River to host the traveling exhibit by world-renowned Mexican artist Jorge Marín.
But Greenville County Council Chairman Willis Meadows objected to the grant during a Finance Committee meeting Monday afternoon.
