Follow-up! Senate committee picks symmetrical state flag design

Symmetry won the day Wednesday — or at the very least the majority vote by the Senate Family and Veterans Services Committee — when it comes to the state flag’s proposed standardized design, the first in 80 years.

Politicians have said their phones have been ringing and their inboxes have been full over how the beloved iconic Palmetto state flag should be standardized. But the decision on the flag design, which shows a palmetto tree on a field of blue from a 1910 design, isn’t yet over as a bill now heads to be debated by the full Senate.

As a reminder, when polled about which design was preferred for the standardized South Carolina state flag, this option is that nobody selected. Obviously the Senate Family and Veterans Services Committee reads DU and chose to spite us with their selection.

This design is symmetrical by no definition of that word that I'm aware of.
