Related: About this forumAnother sewer rate increase!
I just got a notification from my sewer utility. They want a rate increase of over 27% this year. Last time they raised the rates, they also changed things so that all residential customers paid the same. Since then, single people like me pay the same as large families. I have been looking at the rules for the the public hearing.
It's really starting to feel like single people who own homes are not wanted in this area.

(6,131 posts)will cover it...hahahaha....actually it is a cruel joke on seniors like me.
Hospital bills, doctors's bills, health insurance premiums, grocery prices, lawyer's fees to make a will,
car repairs, price of cars, stuff I need from Home Depot to maintain my house and lawn, property tax, etc etc etc are going up much faster than 1.6%.

Thats really my own fault for not being a billionaire or defense contractor.

(6,131 posts)In my case, my Soc-Sec net raise is $12 in 2020, even with Medicare going up.
That $12 won't even cover increases in utility bills.
But a billionaire would not give a crap about whether his SS check was going up enough to go out to a movie.

(38,958 posts)and have your point of view recorded into the file for the rate increase. Also contacting your local and state representatives may be a good idea.

(19,178 posts)deal since the water for the pool doesn't go out into the sewers.
My water and sewer together are about $50/month, I think.

(408 posts)I'm outside the city, but they do supply my water. For Sewer, I don;t even know anymore where it is processed. I get my bill from Palmetto Utilities LC. At first, I was told that they were just doing the billing, and my sewage would still be processed by Columbia. They apparently do own some sewage facilities, since that is the grounds for the increase. When I was being billed by Columbia, my sewer service cost about $13 a month. If they get this next rate increase, it will be $66.62.
