Interstate 20 shut down after explosive materials found in car

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Interstate 20 has been shut down in both directions as bomb technicians assess the explosive materials uncovered in the trunk of a military deserter.

Darlington County Sheriff's Office spokesman Cart. Andy Locklair tells WMBF News that officers stopped a vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate 20 around 3 p.m.

Once stopped, the man inside was arrested for drug possession.

An inspection of the vehicle uncovered explosive materials used to make possibly incendiary devices in the trunk, but its unknown how many were in there, where they came from, or if they pose a danger.
