Erie County Council to get tech support from court IT, citing problems with Davis
Erie County Council and election officials will now rely on the court’s IT staff for their technology needs, citing difficulties with Executive Brenton Davis and his management of the county’s IT Department during the 2024 general election.
The transition means council and election officials will work with the court’s IT staff instead of the Davis administration’s IT staff to post information on the county website or to receive technical assistance in the run-up to and during an election.
Council members, including Chairman Terry Scutella, said the decision comes after a bumpy November election, in which he claims Davis required election officials to “jump through hoops” to access IT support and post information online.
“(There was) no cooperation,” Scutella said of Davis at Tuesday’s regular meeting. “It’s ridiculous that we can’t do our job for the public of Erie County because somebody is having a hissy fit.”
