I voted by absentee/mail ballot, but I stopped by my precinct poll to check if my absentee ballot was on the list. The parking lot was full when I arrived about 8:30, but my poll is in a church community building and the lot shares its space with another building (not sure what it is) and there were people outside that unrelated building. There was a small line inside, maybe 8 people waiting to sign in. I saw the judge of elections, told her I wanted to check if my ballot was on the precincts mail/absentee ballot list. It was.
The mail vote list was printed out on 8x10 sheets. My best guess is probably 25-30 pages with about 25 names per page, maybe about 500-600 mail ballots total.
I chatted for a minute or so saying I was surprised there was no line. She replied people were lined up at 6:30 the length of the parking lot. I asked how many had voted already and she estimated around 300. When I left, the parking lot was emptying out with a few voters trickling in. The voters I saw were mixed, older couples, younger couples with kids, unaccompanied women, 1 older woman first time voter, but not a lot of unaccompanied men. One younger woman who went in was asked by the R campaign rep if she wanted a card of the R candidates, but she replied "no, straight republican". Make of this info what you will.
In 2020, 1487 votes were cast in my precinct which always turns out at a high percentage.
If the turnout is roughly the same, that would mean about 2/3rds of the vote has already been cast FTR, my precinct is pretty red.
I also visited a poll in the small city adjacent to where I live. This is Democratic territory. The two young ladies who were handing out literature told me there was a line to vote when that poll opened and estimated about 200 people had voted. While I was chatting for a few minutes, there was a steady trickle of voters, most of who were AfAm, serveral of whom were younger AfAm men.

(25,221 posts)Allegheny county, a suburb, Hampton township. Took her 50 minutes to vote.
The poll worker who checked my daughter in told her there is 3 times the turnout from 2020.
Let's do this.

(105 posts)No huge lines. I was in & out in about 10 minutes.
I'm in a very Blue district in center city Philadelphia. The polling place opened at 7 AM. Saw no Trump signs or flyers. One Harris sign. I daresay very few (if any) Trump supporters here.
I was told the turnout is way above average & lines were starting to form when I left.

(9,691 posts)Lots of cars at the nearby church polling place at 10:30. Friend said he tried to vote before work and the line was too long so hell vote after (he and his wife despise TFG). Please PA stay sane.

(9 posts)My wife voted in red Dover Township, York County. She said she was in and out like normal. Perhaps Republican enthusiasm is rather low for this election? I am hoping it is the same when I go to vote after work.

(3,612 posts)Berks county is about 50 miles NW of Philadelphia in SE PA. Trump was about +16k votes in 2020. Republicans are +10k in voter registration.
I was in line for 2.5 hours.
In my precinct there were a lot of folks in line with Trump clothing. One person wore a safety vest in reference to the Garbage debacle; folks working in landfills or collecting trash usually wear safety vests and reflective clothing. Also, there were a lot of people who weren't sure of the voting location, and they were wearing Trump stuff. I was number 495 and voted a little after 1 PM. The lady said there were about 1,500 registered voters at my polling site. In 2020, Trump was +390 in my precinct. If I were to hazard a guess, total votes will exceed 1,200 and I expect Trump will win the majority and have at least the same net or maybe more when all is said and done.
Overall, my experience was pretty bad. The longest wait I've ever experienced voting. There were a lot of Trump supporters in the line I stood in and the ones near me didn't appear to have voted in any other recent elections. These were the low propensity voters Republicans have been talking about. At least in my area, they seem to be responding (based on their clothing and vehicle decorations) to Trump's message. Not that there weren't any ,La folks, just not as many that I noticed, which was what I expected.

(145 posts)New Ballots must be rushed from printer & Prior Cast Ballots must be Hand Counted At The Courthouse Election Office..... Apparently The Scanner Cannot Read The Validation Marks On The Ballots And Is Rejecting Them...... The Marks Are To Prevent Photocopied Ballots From Being Scanned As Authentic..... What A Pain In The Ol' Chocolate Wiz-Wang... However The Security System Works,,,, Maybe A Little Too Good...... Polls Will Stay Open Until 10PM... But The Count Will Be Accurate...
