If you make a mistake on your mail ballot, York County won't warn you or let you fix it

If voters in York County make a mistake on a mail ballot, they will not be notified or allowed to fix the disqualifying error before the polls close on Election Day.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania recently released a county-by-county analysis of which ones notify voters of errors, such as a missing secrecy envelope or a mistake with the voter's declaration, and give them an opportunity to fix it.

Mail ballots with errors, such as the failure to sign the voter's declaration on the outer envelope, cannot be counted.

York County is one of at least 16 statewide that does not give voters any notice about a mistake or give them a chance to fix it, the report shows. If voters find out on their own that they made a disqualifying error, they can cast a provisional ballot at the polls.
