They're part of a network of small christian colleges here in western PA. They refuse to take federal government money so they can't be told what to do by Uncle Sam.

(3,368 posts)It is of the Methodist faith, but its curricula prepare students for post-graduate studies and well as immediate careers in fields such as the sciences, engineering, education, accounting and journalism. The college is a sports rival to my alma mater, Geneva College, which is located forty miles to the southwest.

(3,368 posts)As an aside, my favorite quote from Pence is, "I am not getting into that car." A few years back, I posted on Facebook that Pence's declaration reminded me of the plot element in "Three Days of the Condor" (1975) wherein the hitman, Jaubert, cautioned the Condor to watch out for someone he knows offering him a ride.

Not the brightest guy around, and a total GOP lackey.
But even he knew he was in danger and could trust no one connected to his own party.
Perhaps someone gave him a head's up like in the movie.
Oh that should be interesting, GOP Christian values in government.
I have not seen anything from them but hatred and division.
Not very Christ like.

Back in the 70's I initially was considering it until I "discovered" how seriously f**ked up it was after participating in prospective student orientation. I believe that they don't disclose their endowment, but it's apparently rather significant with the Pew family (Sun Oil) among other right wing donors. As it is with Hillsdale College, they're attempting to expand the influence of their radically, conservative think tank.
