The U.S. attorney's office in Philadelphia said Friday it had filed five charges against 62-year-old Philip C. Pulley of Huntingdon Valley, alleging he violated federal election law by falsely registering to vote, double voting and engaging in election fraud.
Its unclear how often double voting occurs or how often it is prosecuted. But a review published in December 2021 by The Associated Press found fewer than 475 potential cases of voter fraud in the six battleground states disputed by former President Donald Trump in the 2020 election. Those cases were too few to have made a difference in his re-election defeat.
Mr. Pulley is accused of using a false Philadelphia address and Social Security number when in 2020 he registered in Philadelphia while already being registered to vote in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and Broward County, Florida. That year he requested a mail-in ballot in Philadelphia and voted in both Montgomery and Broward, according to the criminal allegations....
... Pennsylvania voting records indicate Mr. Pulley was registered as a Republican in Montgomery County from the 1990s until he changed it to the Democratic Party last year. A few years prior, in February 2020, he registered as a Democrat in Philadelphia where he voted in general elections in 2021, 2022 and 2023, the records show.
In Pennsylvania we know of many instances were Repukes have registered as Democrats in order to participate in the Dem primaries (to mess them up.) However their convictions are completely conservative and Republican, and that's how they vote in the general election - for R candidates. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy is one of those.
I'm very happy he got caught.

(35,659 posts)It doesn't mean he has an interest in the Democratic Party, other than messing up our primaries.
For anyone who doesn't know this: PA is a closed primary state, so only registered Democrats can vote in the Dem primary, only registered Republicans can vote in the GOP primary. For many years (at least the last 20) Repukes have registered as Dems to vote in our primary, with the intention of choosing the "weakest" candidate to run against their "favorite" - the GOP candidate. They only vote for a Dem in the primary, they always vote R in the general election.
I'm suggesting this guy Philip Pulley was doing exactly that when he registered as a Dem. Maybe he's been playing fast and loose with the election rules of our state. I still don't know how he was able to register in Florida, maybe he has another residence there?
