SEIU: 2 big Pennsylvania nursing home groups owe the state $10.1 million

Two big Pennsylvania nursing home operators owe more than $10.1 million in facility fees to the state, money that’s earmarked to cover long term care costs for impoverished seniors, union officials say.
SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, which represents hourly workers, scheduled a news conference Thursday in Harrisburg to call attention to the delinquencies and demand accountability in an industry that “currently operates with few consequences for putting profits over resident care,” according to a prepared statement. Valley Stream, New York-based Priority Healthcare Group owes the state $6.1 million and Comprehensive Healthcare owes $4 million.
Priority is seeking protection from creditors under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code for seven Western Pennsylvania nursing homes. Last year, two nursing homes operated by Comprehensive affiliate Comprehensive Healthcare Management Services LLC, Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center and Mount Lebanon Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, were found guilty of health care fraud in falsifying staffing and other information that was provided to Medicare and the state Department of Health.
Neither operator nor the SEIU responded to a request for comment Thursday.

Do DUers have any past experience with either of these groups? We've seen a few Pittsburgh-area nursing home conglomerates declare bankruptcy (or close down) in the past couple years. It's suddenly not such a profitable business to get into these days.
