I volunteered for a poll worker slot

Classes are in April first time I’ve ever done this, any advice guidance past experience is appreciated, I’m all day 06:00-21:00.

1. Go to ALL the training classes.

I'm a NJ poll worker. We just started on computer intake (verifying voters) and I'm glad for all the new training.

Get a lot of sleep on Sunday night as you'll be up at 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

I used to be a Poll Inspector in California before we moved. It's a very long day. Bring snacks and your sense of humor. The training classes are important and will help you to deal with any difficulties that may arise.

The repubs are out to dirty the process & create chaos, so I hope local dems are recruiting volunteers all over the country!

I was an election judge for a long time then CO went to mail in ballots & the need for judges significantly decreased. But I would say, take notes & don't be afraid to ask questions. Before class, go online & read your Secretary of State's section on voting. That might generate some questions for you, too.

Just long day. I enjoyed seeing people. If you are in your district it gives you a chance to meet all your neighbors. You will be fine. Do you know what kind of machines? Use your sense of humor if anyone tries to argue the rules.

Best wishes, you have inspired me. I am the chair of my local precinct. We are just getting started on making contact with with Democrats in this precinct. We need to get mobilized. We have primaries in May, and will prepare for the November elections.

Currently a legal case before the NC Supreme Court, regarding the drastically, "partisan gerrymandered" maps, the majority party of republicans came up with, after receiving 2020 Census results. If those maps have to be redrawn by an independent party, we might have a chance to break the Republican State Legislature control, along with electing a Democratic Senator or two.

like today, volunteering for such a position can be rather hectic.

My only advice to you is to be alert, and aware of your surroundings. But I'm sure all of you will be alert.

Like I said, this is an important civic duty.

12. Lots of fun

Training is essential as there is good information including updates on the latest rules and laws. It's a great chance to meet your neighbors, too, if you are working in the precinct where you live. It is a long day as others have posted, but it goes fast. You can bring food, coffee, water, snacks, etc. At my poll, workers were able to go home for a lunch or dinner break during slow periods.

You won't regret signing up and working.
