Four people charged in central Pa. school bus vandalism tied to TikTok challenges
Littlestown, Pa, police said Wednesday four persons have been identified and arrested in connection with a weekend vandalism spree that police believe is tied to a challenge on the TikTok social media application in which participants are dared to damage school property.
Borough Police Chief Charles Kellar said
the group is accused of causing in excess of $10,000 damage to Littlestown Area School District buses early Sunday morning, plus damaging property at several other homes.
Kellar stated the four, including three juveniles and one adult, were
identified by Sunday afternoon via social media posts made documenting their challenge activities. Littlestown police said the adult, Carter Davenport, 19, of Littlestown, was arraigned Monday on charges including institutional vandalism, criminal trespass, theft from a motor vehicle, criminal mischief and loitering. The juveniles, two of which are from Maryland, were charged and referred to Adams County Juvenile Probation for further disposition of their cases.
The suspects entered more than 15 school buses and vans and discharged fire extinguishers on board. The vehicles had to be cleaned by a professional restoration company and outfitted with new fire extinguishers before going back into service.
