Former President George W. Bush will deliver the keynote speech at the Flight 93 Memorial near Shanksville on Sept. 11 to mark the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that occurred in the first year of his presidency.
Mr. Bush and former first lady Laura Bush will attend the memorials annual observance ceremony, which will be closed to the public for the second consecutive year because of the COVID-19 pandemic but open to the families of Flight 93 and a limited number of invited guests.
Americas leaders have visited the memorial numerous times over the past two decades to honor the 40 crew members and passengers who fought back against hijackers in 2001 and ultimately died when they forced the United Airlines plane down in an empty field.
Former President Donald Trump was last years keynote speaker. Joe Biden, who would win the presidency two months later, visited later in the day and placed a wreath of white flowers at the memorial.

It will be a difficult ceremony for Bush since he knows that he dropped the ball defending our country.

(92,683 posts)Are you kidding, he'll be so high he'll have to stifle a giggle or two while delivering the screech. Fuck him.
If I were invited to that, I'd purposely not attend and RSVP stating that his presence is an insult to decency.
