QUESTION 1: VOTE NO
The first question on your 2021 PA Primary ballot asks whether partisan legislators should be able to terminate a governor's existing emergency declaration, like the one being used now to fight the pandemic.

This amendment would allow partisan politicians to derail nonpartisan emergency response. It could even put Harrisburg gridlock in the way of health experts and first responders.

VOTE NO to keep partisan politics out of Pennsylvania's disaster response.

QUESTION 2: VOTE NO
Just like the first, the second question on your 2021 PA Primary ballot would strip power from the governor, health experts, and emergency responders to put it in the hands of the gridlocked PA legislature.

In this case, the amendment would automatically terminate emergency declarations after just three weeks. Only the legislature would have the power to extend or renew emergencies.

VOTE NO to keep partisan politics out of Pennsylvania's disaster response.

QUESTION 3: VOTE YES
The third question on your 2021 PA Primary ballot asks whether the state constitution should specifically prohibit the denial of equal rights based on race or ethnicity.

This amendment offers additional protection against laws or policies that would deny Communities of Color their legal rights. It codifies the progress many Pennsylvanians have fought for for so long.

Wife and I will be No No Yes.

I already requested my mail in ballot and it was different this year, I had to provide my driver's license number.

2. There's a tricky thing about that

The PA Drivers License (if you provide that) will be used to check your signature on the ballot. Please beware that the signature on your ballot needs to look like the signature on your PADL.

It seems like a no-brainer I know, except for many years we had to sign on that little computer screen for the Driver's License verification. I could never get my digital signature on the little screen to look like my real signature, even after trying over and over. (I'm left-handed so maybe that's part of the problem.) For that reason I've never shown my DL for identification, I have always used my U.S. Passport that has a real "true" signature on it. Maybe it's a problem for you, I don't know. It has certainly been a problem for me and many others.

3. Putting Constitutional Questions On A Primary Ballot

Is a F-CKING crime! PA has a large % of non Republican & Democratic voters. Do you think those folks will show up just to vote on ballot questions? PA is a closed primary state. So if Republican registered voters show up in greater numbers than their Democratic counterparts guess how the question will go. Duh!?!

4. I believe the same questions would appear on the general election ballot also

I hate this sneaky move and the way they're trying to ram these through in an "off" year. The non-presidential elections are notoriously low-attention and low-participation in most areas of our state. Of course the Repukes would try to do something like this to catch us off our guard.

They will receive a ballot with only the questions on it, no candidates.

Republican blatant power grabs are infuriating. They really do not give a shit about democracy and will steal anything and everything they think they can get away with. Unfortunately, there a plenty of Pennsylvanians who can be duped into letting Rs do whatever they like, as long as they go on "pwning teh libs."

9. There's also a statewide referendum question about

Fire Dept's and ambulance being able to apply for loans.

MAKING MUNICIPAL FIRE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICESCOMPANIES ELIGIBLE FOR LOANS
Do you favor expanding the use of the indebtedness authorized under the referendum for loans to volunteer fire companies,volunteer ambulance servicesand volunteer rescue squadsunder 35 PA.C.S. Section 7378.1(related to referendum foradditional indebtedness) to include loans to municipal fire departments or companies that provide services through paid personnel and emergency medical services companies for the purpose of establishing and modernizing facilities to house apparatus equipment,ambulances and rescue vehicles,and for purchasing apparatus equipment, ambulances and rescue vehicles, protective and communications equipment and any other accessory equipment necessary for the proper performance of the duties of the fire companies and emergency medical services companies?

Will be voting NO on this referendum as I believe VFDs should be replaced by paid, professional civil servants out of tax dollars. Allowing loans will only encourage these far too numerous VFDs to continue to exist.
