Bend councilor Riley will not run for re-election; 3 jump into race
Bend City Councilor Mike Riley will not run for re-election in November.
He said Friday that its time to step away and let new leaders join the council.
“There’s a couple of folks I know are already going to run, and I’m ready for it,” Riley told The Bulletin, noting that he has been in public service for close to 20 years.
Riley was elected to city council in 2022. He worked primarily in the nonprofit sector, focused on emergency medicine, primary care, environmental advocacy and outdoor education. He and his wife moved to Bend in 1997. He was formerly the executive director of the Environmental Center in Bend.
