Moving to Springfield OR

New Year, new home! I'm moving to Springfield at the end of the year. Any tips on where to look for affordable housing? I know the food service and Retail workers have to live somewhere and it's not in downtown eugene! LOL any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

There has been very little new construction, so existing stock is old, dilapidated, and overpriced. Eugene is a college town, so some apartment ads may be for college dorm-type "quads".

Shared housing is probably your best bet to start - check Craigslist. It takes awhile to work your way up to decent housing in Oregon. It's a series of stepping stones.

Good luck!
