Clackamas County finishes processing ballots

Clackamas County finished processing ballots for the May primary by the statutory deadline Monday despite a printing error affecting tens of thousands of ballots and a bungled response from officials that caused significant delays in results in the weeks after the election.

County Clerk Sherry Hall reported Monday afternoon that the county had finished processing 115,314 valid ballots.

“The duplication and ballot counting followed all state requirements, as it was necessary to make sure every vote was counted accurately,” Hall said in a statement.

That meant that the public was left in the dark about the progress the county was making for more than a week. It also left the results of a hotly contested House district race to represent Lake Oswego and portions of Southwest Portland hanging.

It looks like Daniel Nguyen has won the Dem primary for Oregon House District 38.
