2 rescued by Coast Guard after fishing boat jams against rocks near Coos Bay

NORTH BEND, Ore. ---Two men were rescued by the Coast Guard after their fishing boat drifted into a jetty near Coos Bay, Oregon.

It was just before 1 a.m. Sunday when the 54-foot Fearless II lost steering control and struck the rocks of the Coos River jetty entrance , Coast Guard officials said.

As the Coast Guard launched a rescue boat and helicopter, the two on board the Fearless II jumped into the water and swam to the jetty. It was there they were hoisted into the rescue helicopter and brought to an awaiting ambulance on shore.

One was treated for cuts while the other person was not hurt.
