Man charged for bomb threat to gay Portland residents
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A Portland man threatened to bomb an apartment complex housing people with HIV or AIDS, according to court documents filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court on Tuesday.
Scott Wayne Smith has been charged with one count of intimidation. In an affidavit signed by Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney Melissa Marrero, Smith is said to have used a homophobic slur against two residents of Hopewell Apartments, an apartment building located in southwest Portland. The complex is described as a residence for individuals living with HIV or AIDS.
Smith also reportedly threatened to kill all you people. The resident who called police said Smith had been harassing him and other gay residents of Hopewell Apartments over a period of weeks.
The resident reported to police that he was afraid, did not feel safe with the neighbor living so close, and that he believed that Smith would do what he said.
