Marijuana Tax Receipts Continue To Far Outpace State's Expectations

The Oregon Department of Revenue reports that tax receipts from recreational marijuana continue to exceed even upwardly revised estimates.

The state's haul for November was $6.46 million, or about 85 percent more than than the Legislative Revenue Office forecast back in May.

Receipts for the year now total $54.5, which is about 25 percent more that the state expected to collect between Feb. 2016 and June 2017.

With lawmakers facing a $1.7 billion deficit when they convene next year, cannabis consumption is one of the few bright spots in the budget.
