How to become a poll worker for the May 6 election in Ohio

COLUMBUS (WSYX) — Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is calling on citizens to serve as poll workers for the May 6 statewide election. Emphasizing the vital role poll workers play in maintaining secure and accessible elections, LaRose urged Ohioans to step up and help their communities vote.

To encourage participation, Ohio offers several programs, including Give a Day for Democracy, allowing businesses to give employees time off, and Youth at the Booth, enabling 17-year-olds to serve. Other initiatives engage veterans, professionals earning continuing education credits, and nonprofits donating their pay.

Poll workers receive training, compensation, and the opportunity to play a crucial role in democracy. “This is a meaningful way to serve your community,” said LaRose.
