Lots of fire departments headed to November ballot for new money

BERKEY, Ohio (WTVG) - While most of the buzz about November’s election is on the president and other elected officials, there will be lots of items that will affect your wallet. Specifically fire departments.

Many departments will be asking for new money.

Fire department operations have been changing for years. The bulk of what they do anymore has nothing to do with fires.

There’s full fire and emergency coverage in Richfield Township in Lucas County near Berkey during the day. At night the response time from this volunteer department can be 15 minutes. If a levy increase is approved by voters in November the coverage will go to 24-7.

it is understandable if materials without that substance would be sought by many departments and families of firefighters.
