SPOTLIGHT RACE: Willis Blackshear for OH-SD06
State Representative Willis Blackshear Jr is a lifelong Dayton-area resident whose career has been dedicated to serving Montgomery County. After graduating from Trotwood-Madison High School, and Wright State University, Rep. Blackshear worked at the Montgomery County Board of Elections and served as an outreach specialist at the Montgomery County Auditors Office. Rep. Blackshear is currently serving in his second term as State Representative for Ohios 38th House District, which includes the City of Dayton, Riverside, and parts of Huber Heights.
Rep. Blackshear serves his hometown the only way he knows howby working together to find solutions to the issues that matter most to working people and families. As State Representative, he has prioritized ways to reinvest in area neighborhoods and communities, bring tax dollars back to the district and make our communities safer for all families. He stood up against extremist attacks on our democracy and our reproductive freedom. Rep. Blackshear is committed to helping Ohioans achieve the American Dream, regardless of what they look like, what they believe or where they live.
Now he is running for the State Senate to continue that work and make sure our regions best days are still ahead. As a State Senator, Willis will fight for continued investments in our communities, increased public safety, and will stand up to Republican extremism bringing commonsense back to the Statehouse.
Rep. Blackshear earned his BA in Political Science from Wright State University in Dayton and is currently pursuing his MBA at Ohio State University. He currently lives in Dayton and is active in the community, regularly attending church on Sundays, attending area sporting events, and volunteering with various organizations.
