Note: many of these events are virtual, so anyone in the USA (or even beyond) can participate!
Whats at stake:
Voters in the Buckeye State will decide whether to enshrine abortion protections into the state constitution (via Issue 1) or be the first to reject an abortion-rights measure since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
Anti-abortion groups are banking on Ohio to end the movements run of state-level losses and create a blueprint for battles in 2024 and beyond.

Calendar:
Tuesday, November 7, 2023:
Election Day
Vote in person at your usual polling place between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
To find your polling location:
https://ohiosos.gov/elections/voters/toolkit/polling-location/
If you decide to vote in person, make sure you have one of the acceptable forms of ID required to vote.
Per Ms. Toad:
Voter ID rules have changed in Ohio. A photo ID is required for voting in person at the polls either ahead of the election or on election day (unexpired driver's license, unexpired passport - or other US/State issued ID, US Military ID). In the past a photo ID was not needed - and in the past passports did not qualify as ID.
Acceptable forms of ID:
◦ An Ohio driver license
◦ An Ohio state ID card (Additional links and information in the Free State IDs section below)
◦ An interim identification form issued by the Bureau of Motor Vehicles
◦ A U.S. passport or passport card
◦ A U.S. military ID card, Ohio National Guard ID card, or U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ID card (that includes the voters name and photograph)
◦ [College students] If you dont have a valid Ohio photo ID, you can vote-by-mail using the last four digits of your Social Security Number as identification.
No longer acceptable:
◦ Current utility bill, bank statement, government check; paycheck, other government document, and concealed carry permit.
Some additional information, courtesy Ms. Toad:
If you know/run into someone while canvassing who says they don't have a photo ID, they can still vote - but it is more of a hassle. It will have to be by paper (not in person) absentee ballot. If they request an absentee ballot and postmark it/drop it in the absentee ballot box at the board of elections they can vote using only the last 4 digits of their social security number.

(1,047 posts)Parking lot was full. Not too bad of a wait. But a lot of people voting. Is that due to issues 1 and/or 2 or the fact there is a huge school levy on the ballot plus school board? Dont know. If the campaign signs are any indication, the community is fairly evenly divided.
Tonight by 9 we will probably have a good handle on the outcome. Cautiously optimistic
