Schoolchildren do need protected: from fearful, intolerant, bigoted bills pushed by lawmakers

“We’ve got to protect the children!”

You hear the refrain repeatedly from the gems trying to legislate banning and bullying in Ohio schools with bad to worse bills. “Save the innocents,” bray the right wingers angling for a break-out MAGA moment and the religious right on a mission from God. “From what?” you ask, as a befuddled parent happy with your local schoolteachers and administrators.

From “divisive concepts,” they intone with a straight face and conspiratorial certainty. From LGBTQ people. From trans athletes. From sex abuse prevention. (Sounds too much like sex education.)

Funny how Republican lawmakers and Christian conservatives — rushing to sanitize history, ban books, speech and tolerance in schools — miss the real peril schoolchildren are facing. But it’s the professional fearmongers who truly threaten our kids. Children need protection from exploitive adults primed to force their myopic beliefs and partisan agendas on the unsuspecting, impressionable young.

It is the righteous proselytizing about what ought to be done in schools — to fit an ultra-conservative (and minority) narrative — who pose the greatest risk to Ohio’s 1.8 million school-age children. Call the garbage pending in the Statehouse what it is; the worst kind of political and religious malpractice because it victimizes kids to score political points or win fundamentalist victories.

They're pathetic little snowflake brats throwing a tantrum and wanting mommy to make all the bad LGBTQ's go away. Their childish, permanently undeveloped brains can't handle seeing people who aren't like them.

Actual kids? They don't fucking care. They proved that with Uvalde. They showed that by deciding to arm teachers in Ohio. WHO FUCKING CARES IF YOU'RE FUCKING KID GETS SHOT?! AT LEAST THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO SEE A DRAG QUEEN!!!

Sure. I agree. Protect kids. We should protect kids. We should protect them from being killed in a school shooting. We should protect them from being abused by their parents. And the LGBTQ kids should be protected from these goddamned out of control religious extremists and their domestic terrorism.

The goons in the legislature say, "Hold my beer."

Dear god--the same teachers who can't be trusted to teach a curriculum that might make little Muffy anxious are expected to pack heat ... in a state that just approved permitless carry.

So what ARE Ohio teachers allowed to teach in the classroom??? Apparently history is a no-go, science appears threatened (if anything related to human sexuality is mentioned), and literature sounds threatening. Do these chuckleheads know how violent their precious bible is??? Oh, wait, they would have actually have needed to READ the bible instead of taking the word of Pastor Bubba on Sunday morning.
