'I think I can be reelected:' Larry Householder doesn't rule out running for Ohio office again
After becoming the first lawmaker expelled from the Ohio House since the Civil War, Republican Larry Householder was in no hurry to give up the limelight.
Bathed in the glare of TV camera lights, he held court one last time — defiantly saying Ohio had not heard the last of Larry Householder. He even ventured that if the truth prevails and he avoids a criminal conviction, he may seek reelection.
"If that's the case, I think I can be reelected," Householder said, moments after 75 of his colleagues shoved him out using an obscure provision of the Ohio Constitution. If he is cleared, he said, "I actually think this could propel me. It doesn't impel me."
Householder, who once held ambitions to be governor of Ohio, sounded like a politico on the verge of launching a statewide campaign.
"I can tell you this much: fellow elected officials who didn't like public citizen Householder are really not going to like private citizen Householder," he said. "I'm going to be out spoken. I'm going to be out there, traveling the state of Ohio, talking to voters and explaining to them my vision of this state and holding elected officials accountable who aren't working for the people."
