In re-opening any business, DeWine said it will be essential to provide a safe environment for employees because we cannot have a large spike of COVID-19 cases.

DeWine said they have appointed an economic group of advisors including businessmen and women from across all sectors in the state to address this economic crisis.

“We have learned a lot from our companies who are considered essential and are still open during the stay-at-home order. Many safety precautions have been put into place to protect employees,” he said.

He added that life will not resume to normal for some time, saying we need to continue taking precautions to protect the most vulnerable people.

He had a 3pm conference call with Dear Leader. And now they’re trying to spin the increase in cases as something we’ll have to get used to. I am beyond irate. And most people I know, including my 80-year old trumper cousin, are freaking the hell out. This is ugly.

My employer is itching to reopen. We make glasses for the home & business. They have called me three times to come back to work because they say that stores are going to give our shelf space away if we don't fill their orders.

I find this difficult to believe. Our two biggest customers are WalMart & a restaurant supply company. Neither have our product flying off of the shelves. This, and other mitigating circumstances lead me to believe that they just want to protect their own bonuses for the month, and convince shareholders that our business is just fine.

Oh, and in all three calls the made to me, I asked if they would provide masks for us, if they had COVID ests available, and if they would provide cleaning solution to sanitize our forklift controls. Their answers were no, no, and no.

There will be another bump in COVID here because I fear most other Ohio companies will treat their employees in a similar fashion.

7. They're taking advice from AEI

For those who don't recognize AEI, it's a right-wing think tank (American Enterprise Institute). But reading details on this in the newspaper, it doesn't sounds as precipitous as I was afraid it did. It includes things like continuing shelter-at-home for the elderly and immunocompromised, businesses continuing work from home wherever possible, etc. The only specific thing I saw in the Dayton Daily News article was that hospitals would be allowed to start scheduling lower-level procedures again. I don't know what I think yet - I'm hoping DeWine enjoyed being the hero enough not to be a dumb-ass about it, but we all know what good it does to hope a Republican won't be a dumb-ass about something...
