Connie Pillich Blasts Richard Cordray's Abandonment of CFPB

Cincinnati, Ohio -- Today, Democratic candidate for governor Connie Pillich issued a statement condemning Richard Cordray's reported decision to resign as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in order to enter the already crowded race for governor.

"It's disheartening and disappointing that my friend, Richard Cordray, would abandon his role of protecting our nation's consumers by turning over this critical agency to Donald Trump," said Connie Pillich. "I look forward to seeing Rich on the campaign trail. Ohio working people can be certain that every decision I make as governor will be about strengthening and protecting middle class families -- not fueled by my own political ambitions."

Following Cordray's resignation, his successor will be appointed by President Trump.
