State Rep. Kathleen Clyde announces bid for Ohio secretary of state

State Rep. Kathleen Clyde of Kent, one of the most outspoken Democrats in the General Assembly, announced Tuesday that she will seek to become Ohio’s next secretary of state in the November 2018 election.

Republican Jon Husted, the current secretary of state, is running for governor in 2018.

State Rep. Dorothy Pelanda, R-Marysville, announced her candidacy for secretary of state March 1. State Sen. Frank LaRose, R-Hudson, is widely believed to be considering running against Pelanda in the primary.

The secretary of state oversees the Ohio election process and registers businesses in the states.
