Gov. John Kasich wants teachers to do business externships? He should have to job shadow at schools, Democrats sayCOLUMBUS, Ohio -- If Gov. John Kasich wants teachers to "job shadow" at local businesses to renew their licenses, he should have to do the same in Ohio public schools, two Democrat lawmakers say.
Kasich would have to spend 40 hours with teachers, cafeteria workers or other staff members each year under a bill proposed by Ohio Reps. Kent Smith of Euclid and Brigid Kelly of Cincinnati.
Kasich would have to divide his time among schools that have received low and high ratings from the state and submit a report on how to improve struggling schools to state legislators.
He and Kelly said the bill is more than a tongue-in-cheek response to Kasich's teacher externship proposal, and the idea has bipartisan support.

(11,686 posts)Take a food service worker and a custodian who have both worked 20 years The food service worker will end their career making what a sub or first year custodian makes while the custodian has advanced pretty nicely. Food service in schools is one of the hardest jobs. I have been a custodian for a few years and I could see the food service had a harder job.
I do not think kasich should just shadow he needs to do the work and be shadowed by whoever he is with that day or week.
At the school that my ex used to work at one of the guys in the supervisor position retired and decided to work as a custodian...you know the people he yelled at all the time because he did not think they were doing well....any way, he only lasted for a night. We were actually surprised because he admitted it was hard and he said he was sorry for being the way he was all of those years.

(883 posts)The republicans do not want our children to go to college just theirs. Romney was saying the same thing when he ran. Better know your place and serve them. A very long time ago I talked to a republican leader and I was told that I had stollen my college degrees from one of them. That is was a mistake to allow someone like me to have the chance. Colleges and good paying jobs were for their freinds and family. Then when I would go to job interviews and they would ask me how I paid for my degrees. When I said that I went on Pell grants they said I did not deserve the degree and refused to give me a job. That was it for me with the republican party. There are no high paying jobs that you can get out of high school. Long time ago that was possible but not now. I had went to vocational school but quickly found out that at least an associates was needed. Starting a business is really nearly impossible but that would be even if some how could get funded what?

Is his "want" a camouflage for a clandestine plan, preparation for dismantling public education? His fake concerns are duly noted.
