Mom, dad, 2 sons plead in $1.1M food stamp fraud case

The owners of a Butler County door-to-door meat company and their two sons have pleaded guilty in a $1.1 million food stamp fraud case that also involved expensive vehicles and drugs.

Scott Traum, 46, and his wife, Joey Lightcap Traum, 44, owned and operated U.S. Beef Cincinnati, which is located in Fairfield.

Officials say the scheme involved exchanging food stamp benefits for cash as well as Oxycontin, marijuana and heroin.

The Traums and one of their sons, Brandon, 22, pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to a conspiracy charge. Another son, 21-year-old Dalton Traum, pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of food stamp benefits.
