New Black Panther Party chairman says his members will carry guns during protests prior to RNC

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The chairman of the New Black Panthers Party said members will carry guns this week during protests and demonstrations in the run-up to the Republican National Convention, according to a report from Reuters.

Hashim Nzinga said his members will carry guns in self-defense and to protect other protesters, the news agency reported.

"If it is an open state to carry, we will exercise our second amendment rights because there are other groups threatening to be there that are threatening to do harm to us," Nzinga told Reuters.

"If that state allows us to bear arms, the Panthers and the others who can legally bear arms will bear arms."

Wow. It's the *one* thing that could allow the passage of reasonable gun laws. n/t bbrady42 Jul 2016 #8

The Cleveland police force was already unnerved prior to the incident in Dallas and openly carrying weapons in the current atmosphere is definitely provocative and a poor decision.

The white supremacy groups and gun rights groups will all most certainly be openly carrying.

There are going to be so many guns at the RNC that we can expect some type of incident. Meanwhile, Trump will be inside the convention center announcing that he will be the "law and order" candidate.

If the current crop of Panthers is anything like the ones 50 years ago, they're not trigger happy at all. They just scare Middle America to death.

What I worry about is more panicky cops.

They too will be armed and dangerous. Worry more about the Trumpsters than the cops.

Will the NRA come to their defense?

BTW- Has the NRA made a statement about how Open Carry effected Dallas police response time? The mix up of the number of shooters?

not too far from Cleveland.

Kasich will be in Cleveland, but not attending the Repub. convention, he says, (though ready to become an alternative nominee if asked.)
Kasich can order out the National guard, I'm thinking.

They saw tourism and positive exposure for the city--now they are holding their collective breath that nothing disastrous happens there next week.

John Kasich and his legislative puppets can pat themselves on the back for making Ohio open carry. Too bad we all have to deal with the implications of that.
