I just wanted to put some info out there to convince some people to vote no on 2.
Issue 2 sounds nice "anti monopoly amendment", after all who wants a monopoly.
Most know that issue 2 would block issue 3 from coming law, and block marijuana this year.
It also has other consequences. It could block single payer on a ballot, because that is a monopoly (according to single payer action network), and it could have other consequences.
The ACLU of ohio opposes issue 2

Here is the vote from the legislature on issue 2 (100% senate republicans supported putting it on the ballot. 100% senate democrats opposed putting it on the ballot.
The Ohio house had 100% republicans support it, and 14 support, and 12 opposed, so they were a bit split.

(18,995 posts)It isn't too early to be doing my homework on the ballot, esp. since we will early vote again.

(6,934 posts)Thanks for the insight. I haven't started my homework yet but I have to say the issue 2 folks have been pretty effective at creating the impression that 2 and 3 go "together" if you will.
Obviously more homework due on this one but this gives me a better reason to dig.
Thanks.

(1,408 posts)I was under the wrong impression about 2. I didn't know about how it could affect other potential laws down the road.
The Kashits crowd are a sneaky bunch.

No on 2 and Yes on 3.

(5,417 posts)Issue 2 does nothing about current monopolies, or even future monopolies.
It does make passing a future monopoly in an election (such as the casinos) more difficult.
