FL, NC, VA, are must-win swing states, anymore as well. It will be interesting as AZ and TX, come more and more into play to fall into that category as well.

6. Cleveland and Columbus are in the running for the Dem convention...

Party members were asked to choose from a list of cities and to vote their preference. I remember Ohio, specifically Cleveland, because I was born and raised there and, of course, voted for my home town.

3. I know it's a finalist

If the Rethugs do come to Cleveland, I'll have to turn off all local news until sometime in 2017. They will be obnoxious about it. (They already are.)

Cleveland is a Democratic city, so setting the convention there would be like sticking the Dems in the eye. The Rethugs would likely enjoy that.

9. It's between Cleveland and Dallas

These two are the finals, it was announced today. Dallas is offering more incentives, but Texas is solid red and it usually goes to a state where the party wants to bring in more voters, so I am thinking it will go to Cleveland.

11. Rachel Maddow spoke on this subject tonight.

She said the Republicans have not won the state in which they convened, since 1992, which they nominated Poppy Bush in Houston.
That being so, it would be a good idea for them to convene in Cleveland, if that would insure that Ohio will go Democratic in 2016.

When Cincinnati was still in the running for the Republican convention a month or so ago, Dems and Repubs were both united in trying to get the convention, believing it would be a boost for the local economy, both short-run and long-term.

10. I'm not sure I'd want to be living in a city

hosting a national political convention. Just think of the crowds, the traffic, the security. Blehhh.

Luckily I live in Santa Fe, and no real conventions of any kind are held here.

12. I Hope Not Because Columbus & Cleveland Are Both In The Running To Host The 2016 DNC...

I may be a little biased as to where I would like our convention to be held because I live in Ohio & would be able to attend. Yet I believe factually it would make sense to have the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Ohio because of the significances of keeping Ohio Blue during the Presidential Elections, which we have for the past two election cycles.

Additionally I believe the other 4 cities in the running for the 2016 Democratic Convention make absolutely no sense and would not significantly help Democrats keep the White House in 2016 because the other 4 cities are Phoenix, Arizona, Birmingham Alabama, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, or New York City, New York....if I remember correctly and none of those states are as vital as winning the the State of Ohio's electoral votes...

idk i would hate to see Republicans hold their Convention in Ohio...ecspecially if John Kasich is the Republican nominee, which is possible.

13. Well Fuck They Got Their Wish & We're In Trouble, GOP To Hold Convention In Cleveland, Ohio
Wed Jul 9, 2014, 12:30 AM

I honestly think this changes the whole spectrum of the game for the 2016 Democratic Nominee for President, that is of course in the extremely unlikely event that he/she is from Ohio.

Ohio was the Democrats for the keeping and with keeping Ohio Blue, we would have more easily kept a Democrat in the White House. Now im for the first time I am simply unsure of whether or not the Democratic Candidate can win in Ohio now that the Republicans have decided to come here, to our state to spend millions and attract millions to listen to the bullshit lies they are sure to spew.

However you feel about this news, it is not good news & it was not what I was hoping for.

The ONLY way to counteract this would be for the Democratic Party to hold their Convention in Columbus, which now seems more and more unlikely.

I am down and depressed at this news. This Isn't Good News & No One Can Convince Me Otherwise.
