Man indicted in Bakken area housing scheme

A Minnesota man has been indicted on charges he scammed investors out of millions of dollars by soliciting money for a non-existent housing plan in the Bakken area, federal prosecutors say.

Ronald David Johnson, 50, is accused of telling investors that he had plans to create indoor RV parks inside of warehouse-like buildings in North Dakota and Montana to house oil field workers.

The alleged scam stretched from 2012 to March of this year, according to an indictment filed late last month.

Johnson is charged with money laundering and five counts of wire fraud. He is scheduled for trial Oct. 3 in St. Paul, Minn.
