ND Gov. Dalrymple releases $13.7B budget
Outgoing North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple released his 2017-2019 executive budget Wednesday, Dec. 7 in Bismarck. The $13.7 billion budget, Dalrymple said, is structurally balanced, reduces state spending, doesnt require raised taxes and funds priorities.
Dalrymples budget includes several large allotments for infrastructure spending. While $725 million would go towards highway and road improvements, $319 million would go for flood control and water supply projects. Not only that, but $66.5 million would be spent assisting with Fargo-area flood protection.
North Dakota state Sen. Larry Luick, R-District 25, spent the morning of Monday, Dec. 12 listening to Fargo city officials and departments giving their funding wish list for 2016.
Holy cow, its like they dont think we have a shortage of dollars, I dont think, he told the Daily News. I dont think anybody clued them in yet. I think theyre going to be in for a rude awakening.
