North Dakota voters must meet one of the following three verification requirements before voting:
1. Voter Identification
You may show an approved form of identification with residential address to the poll clerks (poll clerks ask every voter to present their identification).Acceptable forms of identification with residential address include:
◦A valid North Dakota-issued Drivers License;
◦A valid North Dakota-issued State Identification Card (non-Drivers License);
◦A valid Federally-issued identification card;
◦Passport;
◦Agency Identification Card;
◦A valid Tribal Government issued Identification Card (with residential address);
◦A valid Student Identification Card (with residential address);
◦A valid United States Military Identification Card (with residential address);
◦Utility bill dated within 30 days prior to Election Day, with the name and residential address of person offering to vote (PO Box number is not acceptable);
◦Change of Address Verification Letter from US Postal Service.
You can also provide a physical location for your place of residence if an address is not available. For example: Three miles north of town on county road 23.
2. Poll Worker Verification
If you dont provide identification, a poll worker who knows you to be a qualified elector of the precinct may, upon receipt of your date of birth, vouch for your voting qualifications.
3. Voters Affidavit
If you dont provide identification and arent known by any of the election workers to be a qualified elector of the precinct, you may complete and sign a Voters Affidavit.
