Related: About this forumDear Senator Burr
I recently wrote an email to Senator Burr about the government shutdown (see below).

Have any of you had dealings with him or positive responses from him? Is it worthwhile contacting him about issues of concern? My only contact with his office was a couple of phone calls years ago on behalf of a client. His Winston-Salem office Administrative Assistant did help the client.
I oppose shutting down the government. Not only because of the adverse effects it will soon have on me personally, but because of the hardship it is causing so many other citizens. I request that you urge Speaker Mitch McConnell to bring the recent House budget bills to the Senate floor for a vote. Mr. McConnell's reported belief that the president may veto the legislation is no excuse for failing to allow our duly elected senators like you an opportunity to vote.

(25,483 posts)Richard Burr is a money grubbing vampire. He has done little for the people of North Carolina besides keep a seat warm and focus on getting rich.
The interesting part is that his wife is a millionaire, in her own right, so he essentially could have been a stay at home, millionaire dad.
His claim to fame, aside from his wealth, will be his stealthy ability to fly under the radar long enough to retire.
I usually forgo writing and call. It makes me feel better when I get to talk to a live person.
He's retiring at the end of his term. I'm hoping that he's indicted. He's worthless as a public servant.
You can find his help at 202 224 3154. They are usually very polite.
