FAYETTEVILLE -- The basketball coach and athletic director at Trinity Christian School was arrested Monday on charges that he embezzled more than $300,000 from the religious organization.

Heath Curtis Vandevender, 48, of the 900 block of Westland Ridge Road, is accused of embezzling and converting to his own use state withholding taxes totaling $388,422 while he was vice president at Truth Outreach Center from 2008 to 2015, according to a news release by the N.C. It sounds like this is money owed to the State of NC for income taxes withheld from employees. Not money from the church.

The employees will still get credit for the w/h tax that was withheld from their pay, but guess who will have to make up this shortage until/unless the IRS can collect the embezzled funds? You've got it! All the rest of us!
