In Fayetteville, Bill Clinton says HB2 'based on fear'
During a rally in Fayetteville on Wednesday night, former President Bill Clinton stepped into the House Bill 2 issue, saying it was based on fear and the opposite direction his wife, Hillary, wants to lead the country.
Clinton, speaking before an estimated crowd of 1,200 people on the campus of Fayetteville State University, said North Carolina has been torn upside down because the state government decided to get in and mess with a local issue and try to turn it into something that made short-term goals based on fear.
He said the state would have been better off figuring out a way to let people learn to live together and working it out in a humane and practical way. He said the law contrasts with the meaning behind his wifes stronger together campaign slogan.
The 35-minute speech began at twilight and was peppered with applause from an audience huddled outside the student center at the historically black university. Clinton never mentioned Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump by name, but he referenced some of the billionaires controversial ideas.
