Stokes County woman charged with embezzling nearly $300,000 from Hayworth-Miller funeral home in Forsyth County

The former office manager of Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall is accused of embezzling nearly $300,000 over a 7-year period, according to an arrest warrant and a news release from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Teresa Ashley Marion, 57, of Shoals Road in Pinnacle, is facing charges of accessing a computer to defraud or obtain property and embezzlement by an employee, according to the sheriff’s office. Both charges are felonies.

Marion is accused of embezzling $278,666 from Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home at 305 Bethania-Rural Hall Road in Rural Hall, the sheriff’s office said. Investigators allege she stole money from 2009 until this year, the arrest warrant said. The investigation started March 25, the sheriff’s office said.

Scott Morris, the manager for Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall, said Marion worked as the funeral home’s office manager. He said she no longer works there. He declined comment on whether she was fired.
