I went to Asheville last night. An island of blueness

in a sea of redness.

I went to see Brian Wilson in concert. We ate at Twisted Crepe, close by the Cellular Center, and then went on to the concert.

Had a great time and slept very late today.

Why is Asheville a liberal area, within a sea of redness?

I have family who live just outside of Asheville and they want me to move there, too. I hope to go for a visit, next month, and take my new grand niece to the Friday night drum circle

Yellow Springs, OH is a so-called "hippie" town, and it mostly started because of the very liberal Antioch College there.

This was the early 70's. Oh thought that's what all college students looked like.

That is a truly great little town.

The people are nice.

I mostly visit if there's a well-reviewed independent film that's only playing there (in this area).

I'm like Bill Clinton in regard to marijuana, but that's the place to go for that stuff as well.

I know a lot of lefties from Mass. who moved there. The area is beautiful in parts and right on the doorstep of the Smokies, one of the most drop dead gorgeous parts of this country. That's how it has attracted the transplants.

It will stay blue until Governor Pat and his henchmen in the lege manage to outlaw thinking in favor of watching televangelists and saying "amen." If there isn't a big change soon, it'll happen.

Count on it. That is why they are so desperate to cut back on voting access in November. TeamMcCrory knows they are toast.

I've been watching the machinations to try to keep their "prevent the POC from voting" laws until after this election with great interest, and the stink of sheer desperation is detectable all the way to New Mexico.

They're being exposed fully as a racketeering organization in NC, especially.

a number of them are actively working for the Dem in the race, Cooper. Yes, they hate McCrory THAT much.

Asheville has been cool for a long time, I totally corrupted my Baptist upbringing there around 1974. But in comparison I'll happily stay in Wilmington with the warmer winter and world class beaches.
