Got this on my FB feed just now:

"Here's what's happening - at light speed - in the General Assembly's "emergency" session right now.
In response to Charlotte's anti-discrimination ordinance, a bill has been introduced that would eliminate every anti-discrimination ordinance *in the state* and remove any negative consequences for those who violate the state's ban on racial and gender discrimination.
They are pushing this through as fast as possible. No one was allowed to see the bill until the committee met, then legislators were given 5 minutes to read it. It passed out of the committee and is now being debated on the House floor. It will almost certainly pass the House. Then it will be taken up in Senate committee, then to the Senate floor. All in one day"

What's happening is outrageous. They are using one issue to tear down other protections, just to play to their base's worst instincts.

Proposed legislation for Wednesday’s unusual special General Assembly session wasn’t released publicly Tuesday, but legislative leaders indicate the bill could go well beyond halting Charlotte and other local governments from issuing mandates for transgender people on bathrooms and locker rooms.

A five-page draft acquired by the Observer Wednesday morning showed legislators appear to be looking for a tradeoff with businesses that would forbid cities from raising minimum wages, perhaps in hopes of muffling corporate complaints that denying LGBT rights is bad for business.
