The court documents do not elaborate on what those security concerns might be. However, high-ranking members of Duke Energy have been the targets of threats of violence recently.

However, the Durham County Sheriff's Office told WRAL News the postponement was due to "administrative and scheduling requirements that were not followed by the commission."
A spokesperson with the sheriff's office said the agnecy is "not currently investigating any security concerns or active threats related to this meeting."

The proposed increases have faced backlash, with over 82,000 customers in NC and SC signing a petition for an independent audit of the company's billing system. Governor Josh Stein has expressed concern that the proposed rate hikes are too high, arguing that they would shift costs from large industrial users onto everyday residents.
