No Power Grab NYC political action committee members talk push to reject some ballot proposals

Voters in the city will have a chance to weigh in on six ballot proposals this November.

The first proposal would add an Equal Rights Amendment to the state Constitution, while the last five were all created by the City Charter Revision Commission and would alter the city’s charter.

A new political action committee, called No Power Grab NYC, rallied Tuesday to call on New Yorkers to vote “no” to ballot proposals two through six.

Advocates say the measures were created only so the Charter Revision Commission, started by Mayor Eric Adams, could block the City Council from putting its own legislation up for a vote on the ballot.

The bill would have increased City Council oversight of more of Adams’ commission appointments.
