Former U.S. Prosecutor Michael Koenig on the case against Allen Weisselberg

Longtime Trump organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg, who has been called former President Donald Trump’s eyes and ears, may have to decide whether to turn on his former boss and cut a deal with prosecutors in order to avoid prison.

But it’s a choice that Weisselberg will only have to make if the case that prosecutors have built against him is strong.

“Certainly, on paper, it looks like a very compelling case,” Michael Koenig, a former federal prosecutor told Capital Tonight. “But that being said, allegations aren’t necessarily facts, Susan.”

Koenig, a partner in the firm Hinckley Allen, also noted that, about a year ago, Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance recruited well-respected attorney Mark Pomerantz to join the team prosecuting Weisselberg.
