Anyone else awake, hunkered down in NYC, worried crapless, self analyzing every cough and body ache?

I took my temp. 5x yesterday. My best friend in CA is drunk and ranting on the internet. My mom is on lockdown in a memory care facility. I don't think I'm going out today, not even to walk the dog. Until yesterday, there was a handyman and delivery people regularly but intermittently showing up. Don't even want to go in hallway. I am in four story brownstone. Half my neighbors are gone. My street is deserted. Tell me about you?

I recycle them. The mask is from 1999 and the gloves I can wash. Now my arm is super sore from two vaccination shots from CVS (pneumonia and shingles). I decided I'd better get them now since it may help me a little if I catch the tRump Virus. While I was waiting at CVS (pharmacies are still open) a lady asked the pharmacist where the gloves, masks and wipes were. I was like "What rock have you been under?". She didn't believe the answer, "We are out and will be out" and went looking for them down aisle 7. She's probably still there searching.

I'm just north of the city but she is in NYC. Roads are empty, but parks are full during the day which I guess is good.

health which I have a tendancy to neglect --- hydration, good sleep, lower stress. It could just be that one thing that each of us does or doesn't do that might thwart this virus for each of us. Sometimes I thin of those who live on a ranch ranch in the middle of nowhere. Stock up, wait, no worries except about others. I thnk this is a great time to go inward and just be. Like a form of meditation. I also think it is a good idea to have a little cash on hand, a full tank of gas and a car packed with useful stuff, in case the shit really hits the fan. Being from Southern CA --- I have been through fires and quakes so I know the drill. When shit falls apart, it can fall apart fast. And government might not be there. That said, a shotgun and shells is not a bad idea either. BTW, I am not even a gun guy.

Four months ago, I made the mistake of going to Wallmart at 2:00 AM on Thanksgiving just to buy some eggs and milk, figuring it would be empty but there was a pre black Monday sale and full of lunatics people scoring big screens and stuff. Even the parking lot had a crazy vibe to it. It was the worst of humanity on full display. I had to leave. Same folks now battle for toilet paper and sanitizer. Sure seems like ages ago.

I know some oldsters (WWII generation). What they went through together, shoulder to shoulder, seemed to infuse them with an authentic sense of unity and caring for each other. I hope the same happens when this is over. I hope some good comes out of all this. Best to you and everyone in NY or anywhere. People are mostly pretty great if given the chance, you know?

Have not gone out as I am in a bad group , so I stay inside other than the patio outside. Worried as many more get tested showing it has spread a lot. When they get tests here which most don't have, here its not showing many and won't because the failure of having tests will just prolong hiding it, and cause more spreading of it, and increase the numbers. The wife will go out for groceries but for just a few things next week when the Walmart lets the older people shop first in the morning. I'm checking in with family and keeping up with what's gong on. Feels like a hurricane is about to hit here, with fewer and fewer going out now. Another week or so it'll be exploding here. Stay safe and we will get pass this, and I'm praying for everyone, and hoping the powers to be see trump has to be removed before he screws up more. Take care
I've also been watching old movies and comedy's on You Tube
The Black Book, Reign of Terror, Patterns by Rod Serling, and others.
I also go hiking with others on You Tube in Yellowstone National Park to feel more like I've been outside but it's so pretty.
Watch music concerts, and watched a story about the virus in Wuhan which was really good and informative how this started there.

DeSantis so long to shut down the beaches. There are spring breakers everywhere and confirmed cases of covid in the area. A local doctor reported she was sure she had treated several cases but since no tests available couldn’t confirm. DeSantis, little Twitler toad that he is, hasn’t pushed for testing.

because my temp was 99. And it was all over the place with a different number, sometimes over 100.

I finally took Tylenol PM before retiring and it's back to 98.8, which is OK by me.

I think we're all going to flip out when ANY possible symptom appears.

small city near Buffalo. Had a long, rough day today.

Buffalo is a blue city, but some towns near it, like mine, are red. Professionals here are taking it seriously. 36 confirmed cases in Buffalo and a couple suburbs, with 3 times that number suspected, but not tested. Some proven community spread. Several in my immediate area in quarantine due to travel history, but not tested or confirmed.

Made my last trip out in the town today after stocking up. Needed to go to my pharmacy and to doc's office. Saw many people proudly, openly defiant of Cuomo's advice to avoid groups and going out unless necessary. Walked past a young mother in her 20s with a 5 year old son racing on a big plastic trike/car in circles just outside a store entrance. I asked the mom if it was a good idea to be there like that. She had heavy black liner circling her eyes and bright purple lipstick. Sneered at me and said,"I won't even discuss it with the likes of you." I have gray and white hair, was wearing vinyl gloves, and no makeup. Before I even knew I was thinking it, I blurted out, "You ignorant bitch. Who will watch your kid when you get sick?"

I was at the doc's to pick up sample asthma inhalers bc the copay is so high. Had messaged my PA so they had them ready at the reception desk but did not have an appt. Receptionist was alarmed that someone had entered and called for a nurse who ordered me to stop just inside the door, where she took my temp and ordered me to leave. Told me it was 100.5. I demanded my inhaler and she tossed it to me.

I felt fine. No chills, forehead and face cool, no achy eyes like I get with a fever. Took my temp at home. It was 98.7. 5 hours later (evening) it was 97.5. Nurse had overreacted and was sloppy (or lied) about temp because I had no appt.

At CVS I arranged to have next med refill mailed, no charge. Bought some water. They had put their credit card machine on a small cart a couple feet away from the counter (plus width of counter = 6 feet). There were wide red tape strips on the carpet, 6 feet apart, for customers to stand at while in line.

A CVS customer complained about "stupid Cuomo" closing businesses across the whole state as if we were NYC. I told him it would be stupid not to, since the goal is to avoid becoming like NYC and not wait until it happened, which would be too late.

At home in my apt building, I wear gloves ir use tissue/paper towel to touch elevator buttons. Each floor has a coin-operated laundry room. I bought quarters and sprayed them with Lysol. I use Lysol spray and sanitary wipes on machines before I use them. Take off shoes inside the door and spray the soles and floor where they sit by the door.

Other residents are all aware and cautious, too. It is a senior complex. No more grandkids or kids visiting. First floor lobby businesses are closed (hairdresser, jeweler).

I am keeping a daily journal to record news and my feelings as things develop.

Wish you well in NYC.

Hi neighbor !!!

I live on a block where the cab drivers eat. Their restaurants are closed. There are three spice shops, lots of dry rice and legumes, think food will be ok, already stocked up over last few weeks. Issue is more that we are gonna get slammed before any clear medicine strategies are figured out.

Hang in there, it is going to be a bumpy ride.

for you guys over there right now, from what I read and hear. But it is starting to get worse here, for the same reason, I suspect. You get a lot of international travel, plus heavy use of public transportation. We get less international travel via flights than you, but we have constant daily international travel both ways across the Canadian border, from Toronto and Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls draws people from all over the world. Plus heavy use of public transportation in the city (Buffalo) and suburbs.

I am outside the city and suburbs but people here go back and forth to Buffalo for work, shopping, and appointments. Or they did, before the shutdown.

I got a chuckle from your greeting. I think only a shared crisis could cause a NYC resident to call us "neighbor" over here. We often feel like NYC doesn't know who we are, and lumps everyone outside the borroughs together as "upstate," whether Adirondacks or Great Lakes region.

But we are all neighbors now, aren't we, here in NY and across the country? Across the world, actually.
