Breaking : NY 104th Assemblyman Frank Skartados hospitalized with serious illness; not expected to
MILTON Longtime local Assemblyman Frank Skartados has been hospitalized with a very serious illness and is not expected to recover, his chief of staff said Thursday.
Skartados, who is 62, is in a local hospital, Steve Gold, the chief of staff, said. He did not identify the hospital or the nature of the illness.
Skartados represents the 104th Assembly District, which encompasses the city and town of Newburgh, Marlborough, Lloyd and the city of Beacon.
He was first elected to a two-year term in the Assembly in 2008 and narrowly lost re-election in 2010 to Tom Kirwan. Kirwan passed away in November 2011 and Skartados won a special election for the seat in 2012. He has held the seat since, garnering 80 percent of the vote in the most recent election. He was looking forward to working for the people in the upcoming years, Gold said.
