On high court’s docket: Mediciad; billy clubs; CBS strip club raid report

he state’s highest court is set to hear three unrelated cases next week that may have repercussions that extend beyond those specifically involved.

The Court of Appeals is to hear arguments in a battle between counties and the state over certain Medicaid reimbursements, a case scrutinizing the definition of a billy club and a libel suit against CBS over its report on a 2011 federal law enforcement crackdown on an illegal immigration ring that a Manhattan strip club got wrapped up in.

Medicaid: On Wednesday the court will consider arguments in multi-county actions brought against the state Health Department over Medicaid reimbursements for “overburden expenditures” made prior to 2006.
