Abdrabouh is new Atlantic Democratic chairman

The Atlantic County Democratic Committee unanimously elected Walead Abdrabouh as its new chairman today, selecting a new leader for the county party organization following more than a decade under outgoing Chairman Michael Suleiman.

“I am deeply honored and humbled by the confidence that the members of the Atlantic County Democratic Committee have placed in me,” Abdrabouh said following his election. “With a strong foundation built by this organization and prior leadership, I step into this role focused on strengthening our communities, developing future leaders, expanding engagement, and building a culture of collaboration.”

Abdrabouh takes office as Democrats are eyeing an ambitious list of candidates in the midterm elections in a bid to flip congressional, county clerk, sheriff, and county commissioner seats.

The committee also elected a new executive board. Dr. Hollisha Bridgers of Atlantic City was elected vice chair, while Sajid Khan of Atlantic City will serve as treasurer. Barbara Makoski of Egg Harbor Township was chosen as secretary, Brian Stein of Linwood as deputy treasurer, and Kimberly O’Brien of Somers Point as assistant secretary. Creed Pogue of Estell Manor and Yolanda Cooper of Hamilton Township were elected sergeants-at-arms.
